TV Ad Presentations and Evaluations advice

CMP BTEC UNIT 30 TV ADVERTISEMENT EVALUATION AND PRESENTATION

Once you have finished your ad production/s you will need to work on your Evaluation and Presentation. You should start this over the Xmas holidays as the final deadline for the Production is FRIDAY 13th JANUARY.   The final deadline for your Presentation and Evaluation is January 19th to be uploaded to the blog or printed off and signed in to reception by 4pm. You will need to actually give the Presentations on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th January in the lessons with Sarah and myself.

Please take a look at Daisy Leigh-Phippard’s Evaluation and Presentation on the blog to get an idea of what a Distinction one looks like.

To meet Unit 3 D3 You need to be able to:

Critically assess the different methods of research you have used with links to specific examples. Discuss the most useful research technique you have used. Address what you would have done differently in terms of your research methods, not the production.

To meet Unit 30 D3 you need to critically evaluate your ad/s in the context of professional standards. To do this you need to address feedback from teachers/peers/client. Assess feedback from focus groups/questionnaires/surveys. Discuss the techniques you used (technical and visual) and discuss what worked and what didn’t. Examine how closely your final production matched your pitch. Compare your final production with existing ads which you have researched…draw out similarities and differences. Talk about the conventions you have used. Compare your finished ad to the first ad demo you did in class and address how your skills may have developed since then.

You can mix the above in your Presentation and your written Evaluation. This gives you the opportunity to get top marks via 2 different formats.

Below is an idea of what you could include where, but it is up to you ultimately.

The Presentation/Prezi

The Concept ~ what was your ad aiming to do?

Brand identity?  Form and Genre of ad? Persuasive techniques used?

Target audience information ~ who was the TA? Why? Did the ad match this audience and how did it do this? Did you carry out any market research? What were the responses about the type of ad you wanted to create?

Any potential ASA/CAP issues? How did you overcome this?

How your research informed the Ad/s. Show example/s of ads which you researched/inspired you.

How well did your final Ad/s match the initial ideas/storyboard and pitch. Did you achieve what you set out to achieve?

Your scheduling choices ~ channels and times? Why? Which programmes would your ad be placed before and after?

A link to your Ad so we can see the final version/s.

Audience feedback from your surveys/questionnaires/focus groups/ client feedback (Bill Smith) on your ad/s. You could email him a more completed version for further comments after Xmas.

How successful you feel you have been with your ad…..demonstrate this with data evidence from your research and your own personal opinion. Be honest.

What you would have improved based on data and personal opinion. Be honest.

Make sure that you have carried out a Focus Group showing your ad/s and asking pertinent questions for feedback, as well as online surveys/questionnaires etc

Use graphs/pie charts etc to demonstrate your research  findings

Your Evaluation will be written and uploaded to the blog or printed off as hard copy.

A discussion of the techniques you used (visual and technical codes) ~ what worked? what didn’t work so well?

How well did your final production match your original ideas?

Comparing your final ad/s to the initial test ad you demo-ed in class…what skills have you developed since then? How have you improved?

Discuss the research ads you looked at and how they informed your own ad/s. Insert links to at least 2 ads you researched. Look at the similarities and differences between them and your own ad/s.

Include feedback from peers/teachers/ client

Include feedback from your research (surveys/questionnaires/ focus groups)

Critically assess the different types of research you carried out, both primary (questionnaires/ surveys/ focus groups) and secondary (advertising conventions; actual ads etc)

Good luck and well done!!
